The Delft Entrepreneurial Scientist Award 2010 is the competition that rewards the most entrepreneurial scientist of the TU Delft; those who actively stimulate and support entrepreneurship among students, PhD-students and colleagues.
The competition is divided into two categories:
Entrepreneurial Scientist Award:
for scientists who actively transform scientific knowledge into valuable businesses, either via facilitating start-ups or by incorporating knowledge into an existing company. The winner receives a valorization bonus of €25.000.
Entrepreneurial Motivator Award:
for scientists who inspire and create opportunities to discover entrepreneurship for students and colleagues.
The winner receives a valorization bonus of €15.000.

Selection of the nominees
In October, all the nominees (for both categories) will be published in the TU Delta, the university newspaper. The whole TU Delft community will be encouraged to vote for their favorite candidate. The four candidates in both categories who acquire the most votes will increase the change for a ticket in the finals. You can place your vote here. Voting is possible before Thursday October 21, 2010.
Taking into account the results of the public voting, the selection committee will take the final decision and announce which candidates continue to the finals on November 23, 2010. For both categories four scientists will be selected.
Finals
Only the TOP 4 Entrepreneurial Scientists and the TOP 4 Entrepreneurial Motivators will be competing in the final on November 23, 2010. During the event the winner of the ‘Entrepreneurial Motivator award’ will also announced and receives a bonus of €15.000.
The four finalists in the ‘Entrepreneurial Scientist category’ will be challenged to convince the expert jury live on stage. The jury will get the chance to ask them some final questions. Who will persuade the jury and become the winner of the Delft Entrepreneurial Scientist Award 2010? The winner receives a valorization bonus of €25.000.

The valorization bonus is intended to further encourage entrepreneurship within the department, and can be used for the construction of a prototype or more research for an new idea.
The Delft Entrepreneurial Scientist Award is organized by YES!Delft and the TU Delft Valorisation Centre. The first edition in 2008 was won by Dr. Peter Rem (Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences), Prof.dr.ir. Michel van Tooren (Faculty of Aerospace Engineering) and Prof.dr.ir. Pieter Kruit (Faculty of Applied Sciences).
